Dynamic Sonoma County ergonomic office products manufacturer seeks intelligent, creative, well-rounded multi-tasker for important, stimulating, rewarding role in engineering group.



Position Summary:

Applies knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to execute and further develop a product/product family (driven by marketing group) as well as provide support for sustaining and custom projects. Able to take projects from product concept to first article qualification. Uses engineering rigor to solve new product/design issues as well as sustain and improve existing product line.



Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work at a computer terminal for long periods of time. Coordinating among departments and within the department requires ability to move freely around the facility. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.



Education/Experience Requirements:



??????B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or substantially equivalent technical degree and experience combination

??????5+ years engineering and product design experience

??????Ability to plan for and execute engineering product development activities (strong project planning, leadership and execution skills)

??????SolidWorks proficiency

??????Strong analytical skills, judgment and problem solving ability

??????High level of integrity, work ethic, and commitment to continuous improvement

??????Excellent verbal and written communication / interpersonal skills

??????Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

??????Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for spreadsheets; knowledge of MRP/ERP systems

??????Working knowledge of various production processes including injection molding, die-casting, extruding, sheet metal stamping & forming, machining, painting, powder coating, plating and conversion coating

??????Manufacturing experience/exposure

??????Mechanical stress and strain analysis; FEA

??????Team player, must work effectively with all members of organization

??????Must work effectively with vendors and outside contractors

??????Strong initiative and ability to work independently

??????May require travel to domestic and/or international vendors



Essential Job Functions:



??????Translate customer, manufacturing, and marketing requirements into engineered product solutions in support of custom, sustaining, and new product development projects

??????Design components and subsystems using SolidWorks and other design tools to meet specific requirements

??????Support proposed solutions with engineering analysis and validation experiments

??????Document and release engineered solutions including part drawings, assembly drawings, control drawings, purchased parts specifications, and bills of material

??????Work collaboratively with Procurement group and vendors to provide sourcing solutions to design requirements

??????Participate in vendor evaluation, selection and qualification

??????Provide technical support to manufacturing, sales, marketing, and other internal groups

??????Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously



Reports To: Engineering Manager



Category of Employment: Regular Employee, Exempt, Full-Time



Hours: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. ??????? 5:00 p.m. or as arranged with Supervisor
