About the apartment:
You would be renting a sunny, modest-sized bedroom in a furnished 2-bedroom apartment. Your bedroom measures around 10 ft x10 ft, has a window overlooking the backyard, a large closet with sliding mirrored doors. The bedroom can come furnished with a futon mattress/small bookshelf, and night stand, if you prefer.
This is a two-story, townhouse-style apartment with a large downstairs common space with a huge picture window and a back door that leads to the private backyard area with grill and patio furniture. The common space also has a large flat-screen t.v. with digital cable and a blue-ray player. The kitchen has a dishwasher, gas stove, and standard sized oven and fridge. The shared bathroom is upstairs on the second floor along with both bedrooms. There is a carport in front of the building for parking, and onsite laundry as well.
About the area:
The apartment is located less than a mile from Stanford's campus. It took me 15 minutes to bike to campus (uphill) and 10 minutes to bike home (downhill). Also, it's a 5 minute walk to California Avenue shops, restaurants, grocery, banks, and Sunday farmer's market. It's also a 2 minute drive/7 minute walk to Middlefield Road drug stores, Safeway, restaurants, stores, etc. It's a ideal location for someone who likes the convenience of being close to many things, but without the crowds and noisy nightlife of downtown. The residential area behind the building is perfect for taking quiet walks during the day or evening.
About your roommate:
You would be living with a 28 year-old male who works full days at Yahoo, and keeps to himself on weekends. Chris has been the most considerate and generous roommate I have ever had, and we went to the same middle and high school back in New York, so I can vouch for him as a wonderful individual throughout the years! The apartment would be just as much your's as it is his, and you would have full access to everything in the common spaces.
About you:
An honest and laidback individual who is a respectful communicator is ideal. Stanford graduate students are preferred, but the offer is open to all. A nonsmoker without pets is a must, as both are prohibited by the building owners.
Logistics:
-Rent is $750 + utilities, which run between $80-100 per month
-Utilities include cable, high speed internet, water, electric, and heat in winter months
-Short or long term renting options are available, though long-term (+6 months) is strongly preferred
